Year-Round Staff

Tom Koert (Camp Director)

Camp name: Tom

Years with W.S.C.? We finished our 25th summer!

Favorite Camp memory? One summer, more than half the camp was sitting down listening to Uncle Horace answer questions about God during free time. It started off with one boys cabin, and grew from there!

Favorite Pizza Topping? I like mushrooms.

Favorite Bible Passage? Matthew 6:33. "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."

What is a hidden talent you have? I'll have to think about that.

Where have you always wanted to travel? I'll have to think about that as well...

Craig Bishop, Summer Ministries Director

Camp name: L.T.

Years with W.S.C.? 8

Favorite Camp memory? I really loved being a counselor! Especially all of my time out in Cedar cabin. I’m looking forward to this year’s annual “Cedar Day” celebrations. But my favorite memory has to be when I proposed to Moose on the freezing cold Island at camp on December 23, 2009.

Favorite Pizza Topping? I think if you were to put a pizza on another pizza…Yeah, that’s my pick.

Favorite Bible Passage? Luke 15:10-32. It’s the story of the prodigal son. I love how Jesus runs to us when we turn to him!

What is a hidden talent you have? I can speak French fluently…and some Spanish.

Where have you always wanted to travel? To the moon so I can ride that awesome moon dune buggy around!

Where have you always wanted to travel? I have always wanted to go to Italy. I don't know why, it just looks pretty.

We choose staff members who demonstrate Christian maturity, leadership skills and a love for children. Our staff participate in staff training, including CPR, health and safety procedures, first aid and meeting the needs of children.

Willow Springs Staff includes counselors (2-3 counselors per cabin of 7-11 campers), program directors, certified lifeguards, cooks and kitchen staff, maintenance staff, health care personnel and talented Bible teachers.  Each year our staff team includes a balanced mix of returning staff members and new staff chosen through a thorough staff hiring process.

Our Purpose

The Camp provides a well-balanced program of activities which benefit and challenge each camper.  The purpose of Willow Springs Camp is to present Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour to young people, and to instruct them to live useful and joyful Christian lives. We present the message according to the Bible, that Jesus Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again.  Each camper is encouraged to be a part of their local church, children's church, or youth group in order to continue growing in their faith.

The staff aims to make sure each camper has an exciting and memorable time at Willow Springs.  Our goal is to provide the best possible experience for each one who comes to camp.  We are committed to ensuring a fun, safe, and spiritually nurturing camp week.

Beautiful Country Setting

Lots of trees, green lawns, and a beautiful spring-fed small lake provide a great setting for campers to have loads of fun and learn together!  The grounds are partly wooded with clear streams and plenty of areas for enjoying outdoor activities.

Inside the large barn are kitchen, dining hall, chapel, recreation area, craft room, full court gym, various activity areas, and bright clean washrooms.

The six well-maintained and air-conditioned cabins provide a safe, clean and comfortable sleeping environment as well as a quiet camp atmosphere for relaxing.

We believe in:

1. The Divine inspiration and consequent authority of the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments. By the term "Divine inspiration" we mean the truthfulness and authority of both the Old and New Testament Scriptures in their entirety as the only written Word of God, without error in the original manuscripts and the only infallible rule of faith and practice.

2. The doctrine of the Trinity, one God revealed as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, creator of all things, infinitely perfect.

3. The Deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, His miraculous conception, humanity, miracles, bodily resurrection, ascension and return.

4. The personality of the Holy Spirit whose ministry is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ and during this age to convict men, regenerate the believing sinner, indwell, guide, instruct and empower the believer for godly living and service.

5. The total depravity of man who was created in the image of God, that he sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death but also spiritual death; and that all human beings are born with a sinful nature and are incapable of pleasing God, finding salvation only through repentance and total surrender of the leadership of our lives to Jesus Christ, who came, lived, died and rose again so that we too could have new life in Him.

6. The resurrection of the body, the eternal life of the saved, the eternal punishment of the lost; after death all people continue in conscious existence, the believer being "absent from the body but present with the Lord, the lost "in everlasting conscious torment".

7. The personality of Satan as a created being and adversary of God.
